Viele neue Therapieansätze zeigen nicht nur verbesserte Behandlungsergebnisse, sondern ermöglichen auch ein deutlich längeres Überleben mit einer Krebserkrankung.
Neben der demographischen Entwicklung und den medizinischen Errungenschaften kommt es auch durch die Chronifizierung der Krebserkrankungen zu einem deutlichen Anstieg der zu betreuenden Patient*innen.
Für das onkologische und hämatoonkologische Pflegepersonal wird es aufgrund der steigenden Anzahl der Krebspatient*innen und der Komplexität der Betreuung immer schwieriger die Qualität der Versorgung aufrecht zu halten. Als Lösungsansatz dieser Herausforderungen wurden bereits in einigen Krankenhäusern in Österreich Cancer Nurses etabliert.
„Was ist eine Cancer Nurse?“, „Welche Aufgaben hat diese spezialisierte Pflegeperson?“ und wie es im Titel bereits heißt „Was bringt der Einsatz einer Cancer Nurse?“. Diese Fragen werden in der Fortbildung beantwortet. Zusätzlich erhalten Sie im Rahmen dieses Webinars einen Einblick in den Arbeitsalltag einer Cancer Nurse.
Soviel vorweg: Die Betreuung von Krebspatient*innen, in ihrer gesamten Komplexität, bedarf einer interdisziplinären Zusammenarbeit. Die Cancer Nurse kann einen unterstützenden Part im gesamten Behandlungsprozess einnehmen.

The Berlin Aging Study II (BASE-II) investigates how these additional years can be lived healthily and actively. BASE-II is an extension and expansion of the Berlin Aging Study (BASE). In 1990–1993, this interdisciplinary study initially examined 516 men and women of the western part of Berlin aged between 70 and 100+ and has continuously followed them up over more than 15 years. The follow-up study BASE-II examines the physical, cognitive, and social conditions that contribute to successful aging. A total of 2,200 Berliners were examined at the first measurement point, including a young comparison group. The first wave of data collection started in 2009 and ended in 2014. Since then, BASE-II has been continued as a longitudinal study in order to track individual changes with age. Data include up to four waves of comprehensive medical examinations by physicians, extensive cognitive testing, and examinations of the brain structure. Questionnaire survey data have been obtained in the meantime for 10 and more waves.
BASE-II is an interdisciplinary consortium involving researchers from the Max Planck Institute for Human Development, Humboldt Universität zu Berlin, Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin, the Socio-Economic Panel at the German Institute for Economic Research (DIW), and the University of Lübeck.
In addition to a brief presentation of the data collected, the presentation will also showcase application options and publication requirements for data analysis projects.

General statistical concepts and methods discussed in this course include survival and hazard functions, Kaplan-Meier graphs, log-rank and related tests and Cox proportional hazards model.
The second part of the course will focus on the analysis of contingency table data, where the cell entries represent counts that are cross-tabulated using categorical variables. Tests for (conditional) independence are discussed in the context of odds-ratios, relative risks and simple Chi²-tests. Upon successful completion of this courses, participants will be able to check test specific assumptions and will be familiar with common statistical methods in survival and categorical data analysis. The participants will have the ability to choose the suitable statistical analysis method for different data sets and will have insight how to interpret statistical results.
Survival analysis (Part 1): Overview of different Survival models, focussed on Kaplan Meier and Log Rank test, Cox Regression;
Analyzing categorical data (Part 2): Odds Ratio, Relative-Risk, Chi², McNemar, estimation of cut-offs, ROC/AUC analysis, sensitivity and specifity, scientific presentation of results;
