Im Rahmen der Internationalisierung und gefördert durch Erasmus+ sowie das Swiss-European Mobility Programme (SEMP) und CEEPUS haben wissenschaftliche und nicht-wissenschaftliche Med Uni Graz-Mitarbeitende die Möglichkeit, einen geförderten Lehr- und/oder Fortbildungsaufenthalt im Ausland zu verbringen. Am 16. Oktober 2024 berät das International Office Med Uni Graz-Mitarbeitende bei einem Info-Stand über die Möglichkeiten geförderter Personalmobilität in Europa und außerhalb Europas.

Der Info-Stand wird von 11.00 bis 14:00 Uhr vor der Mensa zu finden sein; bei Regenwetter im M-Café.

Within the framework of internationalization and supported by Erasmus+ as well as the Swiss-European Mobility Program (SEMP) and CEEPUS, academic and non-academic Med Uni Graz staff have the opportunity to spend a funded teaching and/or training stay abroad. On October 16, 2024, the International Office Med Uni Graz will advise staff members at an information booth about the possibilities of supported staff mobility in Europe and outside Europe.

The information booth will be located in front of the Mensa from 11.00 am to 2.00 pm.; in rainy weather in the M-Café.

Am 15. Oktober 2024 lädt das International Office Med Uni Graz-Studierende zum International Day ein, um sie über die vielfältigen Möglichkeiten eines studienbezogenen Auslandsaufenthalts zu informieren, wie etwa über Studienaufenthalte, Famulaturen, (KPJ-)Praktika oder Forschungsaufenthalte im Ausland. Die einzelnen Mobilitätsprogramme werden in einer Kurzpräsentation vorgestellt, zusätzlich informiert und berät das Team des International Office Interessierte bei Info-Ständen und beantwortet sämtliche Fragen zu Zielländern, Partnerinstitutionen, Teilnahmevoraussetzungen, Bewerbungsverfahren, bestmögliche Integration ins Studium u.v.m. Auch Med Uni Graz-Studierende, die bereits einen studienbezogenen Auslandsaufenthalt absolviert haben, berichten über ihre Erfahrungen und stehen für Fragen zur Verfügung. Im Rahmen des International Day feiert die Med Uni Graz auch die #ErasmusDays, eine europaweite Initiative, um auf die Möglichkeiten, die das Mobilitätsprogramm bietet, hinzuweisen, und den Erfolg von Erasmus+ zu feiern. Ein Buffet rundet das Programm ab.

On October 15, 2024, the International Office Med Uni Graz invites students to the International Day to inform them about the various options for a study-related stay abroad, such as study stays, clinical rotations, CPJ or research stays abroad. The individual mobility programs are presented in a short presentation, and the International Office team also provides information and advice to those interested at information booths and answers all questions about target countries, partner institutions, participation requirements, application procedures, the best possible integration into your studies and much more. Also Med Uni Graz students who are already who have completed a study-related stay abroad report on their experiences and are available to answer questions. As part of the International Day, the Med Uni Graz is also celebrating #ErasmusDays, a Europe-wide initiative to draw attention to the opportunities offered by the mobility program and to celebrate the success of Erasmus+. A buffet rounds off the program.

Am 15. Oktober 2024 um 16.00 Uhr findet auf dem Gelände des Universitätsklinikums Graz eine Gedenkfeier statt. Dabei werden „Stolpersteine“ zum Gedenken an jüdische Studierende verlegt, die während der NS-Zeit von der Universität vertrieben wurden.

Diese Steine sind Teil des weltweit größten dezentralen Denkmals. In Graz wurden bereits über 300 solcher Steine verlegt, darunter im letzten Oktober an der Uni Graz. Dort initiierte das Zentrum für Jüdische Studien gemeinsam mit dem Verein für Gedenkkultur in Graz ein Forschungsprojekt, um die Schicksale jüdischer Studierender nach 1938 zu klären. Die ehemaligen Studierenden der medizinischen Fakultät der Universität Graz erhalten nun einen eigenen Gedenkort.

Die Kosten für die mit Messing beschlagenen Pflastersteine (EUR 132,00 pro Stein) werden durch Patenschaften finanziert. Interessierte können sich direkt beim Verein für Gedenkkultur melden, der die Patenschaften organisiert. Diese können mit Namensnennung oder anonym erfolgen.

Die jüngst veröffentlichten Daten der Global Burden of Disease Study der Weltgesundheits-organisation zeigen, dass psychische Erkrankungen in der Altersgruppe der Kinder- und Jugendlichen die häufigste Gruppe unter den nicht terminal endenden Erkrankungen darstellt. Seit der Covid-19 Pandemie kam es weltweit zu einer Zunahme an Symptomen der depressiven Erkrankung sowie Symptomen einer Angststörung. Ebenso wurde eine Zunahme von Essstörungen und Suizidversuchen in der Altersgruppen der Jugendlichen beschrieben. Dieser Beitrag setzt sich mit den Hintergründen von psychischen Erkrankungen bei Kindern und Jugendlichen auseinander, wobei auch der Blick auf die Versorgungssituation in Österreich gewendet wird.

Im Rahmen des Vortrags sollen auch präventive Ansätze zur psychischen Gesundheit und vor allem auch in der Suizidprävention betrachtet werden.

Der Vortrag wird in österreichischer Gebärdensprache gedolmetscht.

16s rRNA microbiome profiling is very popular method for quantitative bacterial characterization of different samples. Tools for the data analysis are already good established and they can be used in the web-based Galaxy platform. This workshop is intended to show full pipeline with all necessary steps of analyzing 16s rRNA microbiome data in Galaxy (preprocessing and QC, generating ASV table, alpha and beta diversity and groups comparison). The course participants will learn the tools and their parameters to properly analyze their own dataset. Upon successful completion of this course, they will be familiar with:

Upload Microbiome data in Galaxy,
Data preprocessing – generating feature table
Alpha and beta diversity analysis and visualization
Groups comparison
Accessing and reading the generated results
Requirements: Basics of working with Galaxy platform or previously attended Galaxy training

Im diesjährigen Symposium der INGE St. beleuchten sechs international renommierte Referent:innen das Thema „An Krisen wachsen. Forschung – Einsichten – Erfahrungen“. Das Aus einer langjährigen Ehe, eine schwere Krankheit, der Tod eines geliebten Menschen – durch einschneidende Lebensereignisse oder sogar traumatische Erfahrungen kann unser Leben aus den Fugen geraten. Nichts ist mehr, wie es vorher war. Was früher wichtig war, scheint nun bedeutungslos. Doch wie kann man mit Krisen umgehen? Wie können wir eine Krise nicht als schier unüberwindbares Hindernis, sondern als Herausforderung betrachten und sogar daran wachsen? INGE St. lädt zu diesem Thema sechs Vortragende ein, die aus ihrer beruflichen Praxis heraus Antworten auf diese wichtigen Fragen geben und Einblicke in Wege der Krisenbewältigung bieten. Als Hauptvortragenden konnte INGE St. den renommierten Balkan- und Ukraine-Experten, ORF-Korrespondenten und Buch-Autor Christian Wehrschütz gewinnen. Er wird seine persönlichen Erfahrungen aus Kriegsgebieten teilen und mentale Strategien zur Bewältigung von Krisen beleuchten.
