In unserer ersten Fortbildung zu Tumoren des oberen Gastrointestinaltraktes und der pankreatobiliären Tumoren werden wir die wichtigsten therapeutischen Entwicklungen aus Sicht der Chirurgie, Strahlentherapie und internistischen Onkologie beleuchten. Wir möchten mit Ihnen praktische Fragen aus dem Alltag, die neuesten Ergebnisse klinischer Studien sowie exemplarische Fälle im Rahmen eines Tumorboards prägnant zusammenzufassen. Ziel ist es, aktuelle Fragestellungen zur Therapieentwicklung sowie deren Auswirkungen auf den klinischen Alltag aufzugreifen und zu diskutieren. Anm.: Am 4. November 2026 wird im selben Format das kolorektale Karzinom abgehandelt werden.

This course provides an in-depth exploration of advanced computational techniques used to analyze electron microscopy (EM) datasets. Participants will learn to identify certain subcellular structures and how to characterize them with quantitative methods, with a particular focus on extracellular vesicles (EVs) and lipid droplets (LDs). Emphasis is placed on post-processing workflows including image enhancement, segmentation, and feature extraction. The course also introduces best practices for data annotation and prepares students to integrate EM data into machine learning frameworks, enabling automated classification and pattern recognition. Die Bestätigung der Teilnahme an den Austrian 3Rdays kann als einschlägige, die Versuchstierkunde betreffenden Fortbildungsmöglichkeit für die Aufrechterhaltung und den Nachweis der erforderlichen Sachkunde für, die im Österreichischen Tierversuchsgesetz 2012 § 19 Abs. 2 angeführten Tätigkeiten, eingereicht werden.
Der Lauf wird vom Universitären Comprehensive Cancer Center – Krebszentrum Graz veranstaltet, das als essenzieller Teil des LKH-Univ. Klinikum Graz und der Med Uni Graz maßgeblich in Forschung, Lehre und Patient*innenversorgung tätig ist. Lange gesund und selbstbestimmt zu leben – ist unser aller Wunsch! Was können wir dafür tun und inwieweit stoßen wir dabei an persönliche und gesellschaftliche Grenzen? Wieviel haben wir hinsichtlich des Alterungsprozesses und der Gestaltung unseres Lebens im Alter tatsächlich in der Hand?
In ihrem Impulsvortrag lotet die Langlebigkeitsforscherin Prof.in Corina Madreiter-Sokolowski Faktoren zur Förderung der ,Longevity‘, d.h. eines langen, gesunden Lebens, aus. Johannes Maier, Kurator am Volkskundemuseum, verknüpft zusätzlich die Inhalte dieses Vortrags mit den Altersgeschichten, einem partizipativen Ausstellungsprojekt in diesem Museum.
Lerncafé und Podiumsgespräch widmen sich drängenden Fragen rund um das Thema ‚Jungbleiben im Alter‘ und die soziale Teilhabe von älteren Menschen: Aus welchen Perspektiven wird das Altern betrachtet und wer vertritt dabei die Interessen von älteren Menschen? ‚Gesundheitskompetenz‘ ist gefragt, aber wie gut zugänglich sind Gesundheitsinformationen wirklich? Wie können sinnvolle, die Gesundheit fördernde – nicht kostenintensive – Methoden einer ,Lebensverlängerung‘ aussehen und wie alt können wir tatsächlich werden? Stellt ,Longevity‘ ein Luxusgut für Wohlhabende dar? Diesen und weiteren Fragen geht Moderatorin Edith Zitz, gemeinsam mit Corina Madreiter-Sokolowski und Johannes Maier, nach. Wir freuen uns auf den Austausch mit Ihnen!

This presentation provides an overview on key principles in drug development, starting from why we need different phases in drug development, the different hurdles we have to overcome, and how and why clinical trials look different in big pharma compared to academic trials. We will discuss concepts like target product profile which determines the way how we develop a new therapy, as well as drug development and market access plans, which outline what kind of information we need to sample throughout the development cycle and what studies need to be performed. Decision making is also discussed as it is a critical asset for a drug development organization for being successful at the end. Finally, we will shed some light on the need for innovation and why changes in the way we perform studies are always needed.
