Hijacking the protein degradation system offers unique opportunities for drug discovery, as seen for PROTACs and further degrader technologies. Despite the great promise for medical chemistry, however, it has so far not been possible to reprogram the bacterial degradation machinery to interfere with microbial infections. In recent years, our group developed such an approach, engineering small-molecule degraders, so-called BacPROTACs, to redirect the bacterial proteasome, ClpC:ClpP, towards neo-substrates. Drug susceptibility and proteomics assays performed in mycobacteria demonstrate in vivo activity of BacPROTACs, highlighting their potential as future antibiotics.

Dass die Kommunikation die Basis unseres sozialen Lebens bildet, liegt auf der Hand. In Spitälern ist es möglich, dass gelungene Kommunikation (neben dem reinen Informationsaustausch) dazu beiträgt, dass Vertrauen und Zuversicht zu Patient*innen geschaffen werden, was zu Zufriedenheit, Gelassenheit und Wohlbefinden jener Personen führen kann. Außerdem wird durch erfolgreiche Gespräche mit Patient*innen zeitraubenden und unangenehmen Missverständnissen entgegengewirkt.

In dieser Fortbildung geht es darum, zu erfahren, was genau diese sprachlichen Schwierigkeiten sind, die einer gelungenen Kommunikation mit den Patient*innen ausländischer Herkunft im Wege stehen. Dabei werden unterschiedliche Aspekte beleuchtet, die tiefere Erkenntnisse in die Sprachbarrieren dieser Patientengruppe bieten. Anhand von diesen Erkenntnissen sollen schließlich auch Lösungsansätze zur gelungenen Kommunikation dargeboten werden.

Diese Fortbildung eignet sich für alle Berufgruppen, die Patient*innen unterschiedlichster Herkunft betreuen und Erleichterungen für Gespräche mit dieser Personengruppe erfahren wollen. Bei dieser Fortbildung erhalten Sie praktische Tipps zum sprachlichen Umgang mit diesen Patient*innen, die Ihnen dazu verhelfen können, den Berufsalltag zu bewältigen.

Most tasks of bioinformatics are processed using the Linux operating system (OS). Therefore, familiarity with and understanding of basic Linux command lines is essential for bioinformatics analysis. During the course participants will also learn how to use and submit jobs with SLURM on the cluster.

16s rRNA microbiome profiling is very popular method for quantitative bacterial characterization of different samples. Tools for the data analysis are already good established and they can be used in the web-based Galaxy platform.
