Obesity often triggers a series of metabolic disturbances, such as insulin resistance, which can lead to type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease. Whether occurring independently or in combination, these conditions significantly contribute to the development and progression of acute heart failure and liver cirrhosis or failure. HDL has traditionally been evaluated through static measurements of HDL cholesterol (HDL-C).
