Ziel ist es, die Unterschiede zwischen diesen gerichtsmedizinischen Suiziddaten und den offiziellen Statistiken der Gesamtbevölkerung Steiermark zu ermitteln sowie zeitliche und methodische Veränderungen in den Suizidmustern aufzuzeigen. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass die Suizidraten aus den Obduktionsberichten niedriger sind als die in der allgemeinen Statistik.
