Neben positiven Auswirkungen auf metabolische Paramater und Gewicht, beeinflusst sie auch das generelle Wohlbefinden, die Lebensqualität und weitere psychosoziale Faktoren positiv.Sie bringt aber bei Menschen mit DM sportbezogene Herausforderungen wie Hypoglykämie, erhöhtes Verletzungsrisiko oder auch individuelle Stigmata mit sich mit. Die Überprüfung der Lebensqualität im Rahmen von Sportinterventionen rückt immer mehr im Fokus klinischer Studien.In bisherigen Sportinterventionsstudien wurde die Lebensqualität meist nur als sekundärer Endpunkt erhoben.In der Vergangenheit wurden mehrere Studien zu Sportintervention bei DM1 am Universitätsklinikum Graz durchgeführt,wobei psychische Parameter bislang kaum systematisch erfasst wurden.
