Charakteristisch für diese Krebsform ist das Fehlen von Östrogen- und Progesteronrezeptoren sowie des Wachstumsfaktor-Rezeptors HER2/neu. Daher können zielgerichtete Therapien, die auf diese Rezeptoren abzielen, nicht angewendet werden. Dies schränkt die Behandlungsoptionen erheblich ein, weshalb die systemische Chemotherapie die zentrale Behandlungsmethode darstellt. Der aggressive Charakter des TNBC und seine Tendenz, frühzeitig zu metastasieren, führen zu einem schlechteren Gesamtüberleben (OS) und krankheitsfreien Überleben (DFS) im Vergleich zu anderen Brustkrebsformen. Dennoch hat der Einsatz von neuen Therapiestrategien wie u.a.
