Psychopathie ist ein klinisches Persönlichkeitskonstrukt, das sich in zwischenmenschlichen, affektiven und Verhaltensaspekten manifestieren kann. Zu den Schlüsselmerkmalen gehören ein Mangel an Empathie, Schuldgefühlen und Reue, die Neigung zur Manipulation und Täuschung sowie ein oberflächlicher Charme. Verschiedene Subtypen der Psychopathie können sich aus einer Vielzahl von Eigenschaften entwickeln, darunter auch der Subtyp des erfolgreichen/adaptiven Psychopathen. Das Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, psychopathische Merkmale anhand von physiologischen Parametern in Bezug auf emotionale Reize zu identifizieren, um eine objektive Diagnose zu ermöglichen. Methode. An der Untersuchung nahmen 77 Männer aus einer militärischen Population teil, die je nach Ausprägung in eine der Gruppen niedrig, mittel oder hoch psychopathisch eingeteilt wurden. Die Aufgabe bestand darin, Bilder aus verschiedenen emotionalen Kategorien (mitleiderregend, bedrohlich, neutral) zu betrachten, während ihre Herzfrequenz mithilfe eines Elektrokardiogramms (EKG) gemessen wurde. Ergebnisse. In der Untersuchung wurden keine Unterschiede in der physiologischen Reaktion während der Betrachtung der Bilder zwischen den Gruppen festgestellt, unabhängig von der Bildkategorie. Ebenso wurde kein Unterschied im Einfluss ausgewählter Facetten der Psychopathie auf die Herzfrequenz beobachtet. Diskussion. Das Ausbleiben der erwarteten Ergebnisse kann auf die Komplexität des Persönlichkeitskonstrukts zurückgeführt werden, was eine angemessene Datenerhebung erschwert. Zudem erfordert eine spezielle Stichprobe wie diese geeignete Erhebungs- und Untersuchungsmaterialien, um valide Ergebnisse zu erzielen. Die erhöhten Herzratenmittelwerte bei der Betrachtung der Bilder in der Gruppe mit hoher Psychopathie-Ausprägung deuten darauf hin, dass sich innerhalb der Stichprobe eher der Subtyp des erfolgreichen/adaptiven Psychopathen als der klassische Typus wiederfindet. Durch die Verwendung eines alternativen Messinstruments, das die mit Psychopathie verwandte Domäne Disinhibition erfasst, wurde eine gesteigerte Herzratenänderung während der Präsentation von Bildern in allen Kategorien festgestellt.
