Obwohl noch viele Fragen bezüglich ihrer Pathogenese unklar sind, zeigen neue Forschungsergebnisse, dass dabei der Ausschüttung von CGRP im trigeminovaskulären System eine entscheidende Rolle zukommt. Dementsprechend wurden Medikamente entwickelt, die den CGRP-Signalweg blockieren und in der Migräneprophylaxe Anwendung finden sollten. Das Ziel dieser Diplomarbeit ist es, die Rolle von CGRP in der Migräneentstehung zu beleuchten und herauszufinden, ob CGRP-Antagonisten in der Lage sind, bessere Ergebnisse bei der Prophylaxe von Migräne zu erzielen als bisher verwendete Prophylaktika. Die Effektivität dieser Medikamente soll mit der Reduktion der MMDs beurteilt werden.
